Miss Rose

Written for: Miz Quickly - Day 19

"The Rabbit knows some subjects just want to be written about.

trees light water fire– all the googobs of other “poetic” things

Like a cat underfoot or a droning speaker their wants can be downright tiring.

This may not work, but give it a try.

Personify some wearing poetic subject, look it in the face, and tell it what you think."

Yes, I can see
your red-petaled
beauty, Miss Rose.
Many choose to write
about you from
prose to odes.
(watch those thorns!)
You are not the be-all,
and end-all of flowers.
Personally, I prefer
peonies and sunflowers.
Your ego causes
your petals to droop
too soon.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
