If I Were You

Written for: November 2021 PAD - Day 20

"Write a (Blank) You poem."

If I were you, I'd be cautious
You who have wronged so many
Thoughts of you make me nauseous,
a Poster boy for bad penny

You who have wronged so many
So far you've gotten off scot-free
Thoughts of you make me nauseous
Is revenge cold? I'd like to see

So far you've gotten off scot-free
Do you sleep like a log at night?
Is revenge cold? I'd like to see
What you have stolen cannot be set right.

Do you sleep like a log at night?
Those damaged have no moments of peace
What you have stolen cannot be set right.
If karma exists, your life will cease.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
