Impressive Ego

Written for: Miz Quickly - Day 20 - Important

"Take the abstract word ”IMPORTANT” and illustrate, define, personify—do something to make it real. You do not have to use the word itself. You can. You can use it over and over. That isn’t important. The energy, Dr Frankenstein, should make the word LIVE."

His money makes him prestigious
in his own mind.
Yes, it is easy for him to buy
the look, walk that purposeful
walk. People listen
when he talks. He holds
meetings, sends greetings,
carries leather. Whether or not
there are significant papers
inside, is anyone's guess.
Dress the part; command
an audience. Does anyone dare ask
what he really does?

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

This piece reminded me about something I read about the current Queen Elizabeth II.
She is always seen with a pocket book. But the contents; maybe some hankies, but no ID, and some trinkets that were gifts from her grandchildren. 🙂
