Smaller, but Thankful

Written for: Poetic Bloomings #361 - "We're Thankful"

"Now, we stand on the cusp of our Thanksgiving holiday in the States. The precursor to Christmas is almost nigh. So we are asked to write our obligatory “Thankful” poem … anything with the word THANK in the title or in the body of your poem would be greatly accepted!"

Family is shrinking.
I am thankful for everyone here,
glad we are all in sync.
Family is shrinking,
but I am thinking
how I hold you all dear.
Family is shrinking.
I am thankful for everyone here.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
