Written for: Miz Quickly - Day 24 - "Merit" When I first met my husband, he smoked four packs of Merits a day. Rationalization was that lowered tar and nicotine would merit him allowance of extras. After a short time, he quit. Switched from beer to wine, and gained eleven pounds having assimilated into my family where sweets were as natural as breathing. https://imprompt.wordpress.com/2021/11/24/qnv-24/

Oh… I had a family member that smoked 5 packs a day… quit too. Blamed weight gain on quiting.
Another relative though (if there can be such a thing) was a regular polite smoker who later switch to the horrid nicotine sticks… While remaining thin, – death finally presented the tally sheet.

And yet, I still have friends who smoke.

Unfortunately I think we all know someone who does… But we have never allowed ‘it’ in our home. I think when folks don’t see ashtrays they do think twice and excuse themselves to go out side. Unfortunately vaping is really much worse. Though I know a gent who used vaping to quit smoking.

Yes. I know several people who think vaping means they are over the smoking habit.
