Witness in the Shade

Written for: Sunday Whirl, Wordle #529

Words: free, morning, why, papers, truth, shiny, witness,
       strive, engine, wings, split, price

Why did this witness
come to light
right before
deliberations? Hope
this case was not
engineered by council
for the defense. All
the tabloids printed
story in last night's
edition. Public
opinion was split.
New witness seemed
a bit on the shady
side. Still, defendant
is looking like
a free bird this morning.
"Truth will out," he
decries. Good news is
maybe he will finally
ditch that shiny
suit for a higher-priced
number. Strive for
an innocent look.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
