Out of Character

Written for: Sunday Muse #191

Now, your prompt! This week's theme is "cosplay creatures"! You get a choice of any or all of three images to write poetry for.

Not a great feat
to fly over a wall.
Adorned in these
fancy togs,
is another matter.
I do hope he remembers
me. I was on his ledge
for years, but my fear
is that he will not
recognize his two
greatest loves
dressed as one.

I say, you wouldn't
happen to know
where Kitty Tabby
resides? She's a
soft brown color.
I've been away
for some time,
and she is not
aware that I'm
back. Thought
I'd surprise
that cheating
wench. New money
don't mean I'm not
as smart as those
fat cats who were
born rich, ya know.
I came up the
hard way. Yeah,
that's right.
Robinson's my
name, E.G.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Mr. Robinson, I saw Kitty Tabby on the streets the other morning and she wandered into my back yard. While I was fixing her some food she left.
Poor little critter, you are a mean and ruthless CAD. Stay away from her or I’ll have your tail. Unless you come to rescue her.

My wish for you and yours,
    MERRY CHRISTMAS and
    a HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 🙂

I loved watching Mr. Robinson in those black and white films!! A fine actor. As for Ms. Tabby, she will be fine. Sending Holiday greetings from OR to NY ~~ especially for you, Sara.
