Written for: Friday Writings #9 - Telling Secrets "What are your little secrets?" (posted by Rosemary) "Little secrets are the kind I'm thinking of ... personal yet silly stuff ... harmless but a mite embarrassing ... or just sorta odd ... or maybe even sweet." Marilyn: I will tell you a secret, but you cannot divulge it to anyone. We are getting a puppy! Susan: It's supposed to be a secret, but Marilyn just told me they were getting a puppy–probably rescue. Ella: Did you know that Marilyn's family is adopting a rescue dog from a shelter? Probably one of the older dogs that were saved from that wildfire. Joan: Hi Marilyn I heard about your secret plan to fly down south, and rescue a bunch of older dogs that were left in the wake of the storm. https://poetsandstorytellersunited.blogspot.com/

Sounds like a game of Chinese whispers

Everyone has a different name for that childhood game. We used to call it Telephone.

Yup, that’s what unites us, same games played with slight differences.

Ha ha ha, definitely Chinese whispers. Nicely portrayed! Also just goes to show that there is really only one way to keep a secret: don’t tell ANYONE.

OH YES it happens. We loved playing that ‘pass the secret’ game at birthday parties back in the late 40s, early 50s.

hahaha, that’s how a narrative can get distorted after a few retellings. We used to play this game at school, i think it’s called ‘telephone’. Never fails to make us laugh.
Enjoyed reading your post! 🙂

LOL, that’s always the way isn’t it. Bit by bit the story grows. A few more people added to the chain and they might have believed there was a masked ball being held as a rescue animal benefit.

Chinese whispers as everyone has said before – sadly everyone’s been on the receiving side of this craziness! Wonderfully presented, Sara!
