The Silver Thread

Written for: The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #537

Words: sigh, moment, cracking, expansive, shimmering,
        triumph, filter, quiver, way, reveal

Sigh. Thought he was
a man of integrity
with an expansive
heart. Cracks in
his foundation revealed
what he had hoped
to keep hidden. His
moment of triumph
at the archery range–
his big win–gone.
Way it went down, all
the arrows and quivers
were collected for
DNA purposes. He thought
he had been so meticulous
in filtering out all evidence.
A thread, barely visible,
was discovered. Its shimmering
material was a perfect match
to the silver gown she wore
that evening, the evening
–the evening she called it quits.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
