Behind The Gadget Shop

The Gadget Shop
is a front. Long
corridors out back–
tunnels of life–open
to shelter for some
of the millions
of refugees who,
targeted by a mad-
man, suffer monumental
losses. Need to flee
their beloved country.
Owner of the shop,
and his small, loyal
staff, left that same
land years ago, unwilling
to live in dread of
a whip cracking down
on their freedom. Many
relatives are still
opposed to leaving.
The shop owner is having
difficulties tracking
them down. They hold
fast hoping their country
will outlast a psychotic's
wish to overtake them,
killing and bombing
indiscriminately. The world
watches in horror.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
