The Palmist

Written for: The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #547

Words: void, tracing, over, fingertips, moon, lines,
        patterns, cook, star, strong, unconsciously

Tracing over her client's
fingertips down to the line
patterns on her palm,
strong half-moons could
be seen. What did it mean?
People thought the Palmist's
claims devoid of any truth.
Was she unconsciously
spinning stories? Silver
stars hung from a purple
ceiling, and the general
feeling was, there seemed
a strange remoteness
about her. Curiosity
seekers who visited all
said they smelled strange
spices coming from
a kitchen. What was
she cooking? No one
asked. Of what significance
were the half-moons?

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
