My View

Written for: Friday Writings #21: What's There

"Your optional prompt today is to look and see what is present, in your surroundings and/or your heart, and write of that."

Dining room window looks
out on backyard where
bushes sprout red Spring
leaves. On half-wall in
front of bushes, my stone
Alice, Cheshire Cat, owl,
and turtle confer on
the ledge. Empty pots
turned upside down
await fresh soil
for Spring planting.
When?

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  1. Thanks for taking the prompt literally. I love the delightful scene this produces – and the insights into the person who created that environment!
