Downward Slope Without Skis

"Write a poem using the words, 'life, freedom, rights, regression'."


To have freedoms
in your life,
you must have
rights to those
freedoms.  When
rights that have 
been hard-won
are taken away
from you, and threats
of further limitations
are on the horizon,
you find yourself
in a regression–
