Scope of Dreams

Written for: Friday Writings #33: Daring to Dream

"Hello, dear wordsmiths. What are your dreams, in these – er – interesting times? Are they big or small, personal or planetary? All of the above?"

"What does my cat dream of, I wonder, when she makes little noises in her sleep, or her paws twitch? Are her dreams large or small to her?"

"If you'd like a prompt this week, please respond, in any way that takes your fancy, to the phrase 'Dream big'."

Dare I dream
of beach vacations,
cooling in sea salt spray
or visiting friends
I yearn to see–
an overdue elation.

Smaller dreams
are simpler to imagine
as my life has changed
in unexpected ways.
Big dreams are re-examined.

In that famous line from “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” …”any dream will do.” Dream big, dream small, but dream—and never stop dreaming!

Sleep dreams or life dreams? I’m not so much looking for the epic life dreams anymore but enjoy them when I’m asleep.

You took the prompt to a place totally relatable … well done, Ms. Sara, well done.

It’s good to have dreams, big or small. I like how you expressed that your life changed but left us hanging on the details.

Life changes change everything as you well know ( so do I )….little dreams and little things to look forward to are as good as big ones…..essential to keep afloat… Enjoyed this poem
