Eternal Flame

Written for: Sunday Muse #219 - "Themeless in Seattle"

I see this candle
lit for Bev, an eternal
flame of love. Rain
slides sadly down
the glass pane
for a woman
who brought delight
into our lives.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

I too am a recipient of that shared love and have shared in bringing tears for the window pane.
We are missing you, Bev. It hit me hard, we were the same age, but teehe, I was six months older.
We even shared the near fatal blow from google.

Sara, this is a moving tribute to Bev. Lovely. I just saw your comment about rescue dogs at my site. I am so annoyed on your behalf. With so many dogs needing homes, they make it nearly impossible (and also expensive) to adopt them. I know they are making sure the dogs go to good homes. But they are also discouraging people who would GIVE them good homes. Sigh. Maybe your local SPCA would be easier………Dogs are wonderful and I hope one finds you. It would be a lucky dog.
