Unique Vacation

"Create a haibun about September, and a special moment
you experienced or are looking forward to."


A September vacation that would be recalled and cherished
in my heart for years to come.  Four friends in Italy,
curtesy of a football pool win.

Around every corner, architectural wonders combined
with romantic settings.  One evening we celebrated
my winning friend's birthday in a simple, yet elegant
restaurant in Florence.  Our indecisiveness pressed
the chef to send out dishes of his choice–all excellent.
A Panna cotta for dessert melted on our tongues.  It was
a birthday none of us would ever forget.
