"Write a poem using the words 'notes','memory', and 'knife',


Who took these notes,
I wonder, gazing down
at what looks to be
my own handwriting.

I have no memory 
of what this implies. 
A piece of aged
yellow paper, pulled
out of a musty, 
wooden drawer.  Yet

something nibbles at
the edge of my consciousness–
cold steel of a knife.
