“papa said”

Written for: The Twiglets #299 - papa said

"Get out of the street!
What are you doing, Pete?"

"Well, Papa said I was a pest,
to go play in traffic so he could rest."

She did whatever
Papa said to do.
Even though,
she thought
it was wrong.

papa said no colds
if you catch a falling leaf
she stood, arms outstretched

There was a young man who followed rules,
his father would not suffer fools.
                Then one fateful day
                 he was led astray.
Girl bade him, take a sip. Now he attends AA.

Too often we follow our parents blindly… thinking they know best.
Sometimes though we do need to learn from our own mistakes. 🙂
