The Moon Takes a Breath

Written for: The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #574

Words: carving, drop, breath, moon, signs, thumping, lie,
        pity, snarl, reveal, awful, now

Moon takes a breath,
revealing signs of
carving like a pumpkin.
Now it slowly drops
a bit, hidden for
a moment by a snarl
of stars lying in
its path. When in
full view once more,
an awful thumping
accompanies it.
Could it be
the moon's heart
filled with pity
for the earth
it loves so well.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
