If I Could See

Written for: November 2022 PAD Chapbook Challenge - Day 25

"For today's prompt, write a serious poem. Maybe work is serious...or shopping. Or dealing with leftovers. Or well, you know what constitutes serious for you."

Do you recognize me each time?
No sign.

Can you clearly picture our house?
In detail, spouse.

Why can't your blue eyes still focus?
Numbness

now, instead of insightfulness.
How I pray they will find a cure
for this disease you must endure.
No sign in detail, spouse–numbness.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

I know full well how therapeutic writing about something so difficult is. Never stop putting your emotions down on paper, shouted into an empty sky, wherever / however.
