Partaking of Life

Written for: November 2022 PAD Chapbook Challenge - Day 27

"For today's prompt, write a resolution poem. Your poem could be about the kind of resolutions people make each new year, new month, new week, or new day. But it could also cover the resolution of a problem or situation. For instance, the resolution of a feud or late payment."

Reiterate same resolution,
attempt to follow through each day.
Truly, it is my only solution

to live life as a happier human.
Complex when one has two lives to maintain.
Reiterate same resolution.

I have come to a conclusion–
there will be days of sun, and days of grey.
Truly, it is my only solution.

I am not under an illusion
that life will not spin in disarray.
Reiterate same resolution.

Long walks renew my constitution,
socializing helps me find my way.
Truly, it is my only solution.

Beginning to sense my muscles loosen.
Can there be a slight change underway?
Reiterate same resolution;
truly, it is my only solution.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
