“bells like clear vowels”

Written for: The Twiglets #318 - bells like clear vowels

An ambitious 'A'
chimes from church
declaring noon.

Thick crystal glass pings an 'O'
full and vibrant as the wine
it holds.

calls for dinner
cowbell rings from front door
summons workers from fields

The cat wore a bell 'round his neck
to keep comings and goings in check.
            Outdoors it jingled
            deer came to mingle,
so began an animal farm complex.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
