The Letter

Written for: Poetic Asides 2023 April PAD Challenge - Day 13

write a Forgive poem.

First, I ask myself what I need to forgive myself for. Deep
In meditative thought, ,I attempt to separate
the tangles of my past actions
and reactions. On some occasions
I could have held my tongue. On others,
I, as victim of envenomed remarks,
stood silent instead of the brilliant
riposte I later formed in my head. Now,
as age awareness besets me each day,
I forgive all those who have hurt me,
and forgive myself for those I have
hurt. There is simply no time
to waste.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
