“curled page”

Written for: The Twiglets #321 - curled page

Page containing
her favorite poetry–
yellowed and curled with age.

Love letter
was tucked inside
the curled page.

Sit sits and reads
book in her lap, long hair curled
around page

           A girl named Shirley,
           hair long and curly
            would not have it cut
          though down past her butt.
Got stuck to flypaper; curly Shirley grew surly.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Fun reads… You’ve got me thinking of old scrolls too.

And that Limerick reminded me of a model who had hair three feet beyond her feet! Once on vacation I saw an older woman with a braid down her back that went below her knees, and had a section flipped up and banded that if not so would probably be at least the full length of her body!

Nostalgia and humor! They fit together beautifully, Sarah. 🙂
