"You say you want a revolution"

"Today, I want you to write a poem of exactly 44 words (not counting your title), including the word revolution."

The zoo’s animals
were fed up. Enough
was enough. After hashing
it out through Zoom,
they all agreed upon
a signal from Edgar
the elephant. A roar
sounded and all
the inmates revolted.
They escaped,
and started an animal
farm. The year was
1984.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

A unique take on the prompt, Sarah! But what happened to the farm animals? Were they eaten by the ones from the zoo?
