The Audition

Written for: The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #602

Words: rising, willing, seven, bodies, granted, risk,
yearn, gender, name, dancing, live, build

They lined up
for the audition–
seven girls with
beautiful bodies.
they were willing
to risk anything
to become rising stars
with name in lights.
Only one spot would be
granted for role
of dancer. Tension
built. Yearning
was palpable. Each
performed their best
moves. Waiting was
unbearable. Then,
one by one, the girls
got their answers.
Seem the director
had decided to switch
gender, and hire a
male dancer.

We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
