At The Dance

Written for: Poetic Asides 2023 April PAD Challenge - Day 29

"Write a sight poem."

He has her in his sight.
She is dancing with Mike, the star
of football team. The bar
he feels, is above par–no chance.
Suddenly, smack! All glance.
Her hand slaps Mike; he blanches, stunned.
Serendipity's won.
Glides to her side, tears run
down her pale cheeks. He hums
a love song, takes her hand.
They dance away. Slow music plays.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
