Don’t Ask Me

“Welcome to the Tuesday Platform, your unprompted free-range day for sharing poems in the Imaginary Garden.”

“And for those of you who would like some inspiration, I suggest you pick a few words or a short line from a favorite poet of old and create your own poem. If you love a line from one of your fellow poet’s poem, I recommend that you ask permission if it’s alright to work it into a poem of your own. Please do remember to give due credit to the person from whom you’re borrowing the words from. Have fun!”

“I cannot dance upon my toes”
though goodness knows I’ve tried.
My angles fold like bungled prose
at the end of which I sigh.

(With credit to Emily Dickinson for the first line)
